2009 and 2010 are the most unique years in the history of our club. The goal is to Light The Way to the 100th Anniversary, and such formidable task requires New Energy and Everyone Involved. This year's motto for communications is All Ages, All Races, All Religions: United in Service.
We are actively pursuing a strategy equally focused on internal and external aspects of communications.
Externally, we are working on ensuring that by year's end the club's name becomes a household one in the local, national and international communities - more so than ever before. As always, we are also devoted to promoting Rotary International, educating and engaging those who are unaware or need a reminder of the impact Rotary International is making around the world.
Internally, we strive to make every member well informed and enthusiastically involved in the club's many exciting and gratifying activities and projects.
This year we are paying a special tribute to diversity. We envision Rotary International as a quilt wrapped around the globe to protect it from harsh impacts of reality. It is sewn from over 170 pieces that represent 170 countries and make up the fabric of Rotary. As members of Rotary and world's leaders, we are willing and able to embrace, understand and attract a variety of cultures and traditions, colors and religions, languages and historical heritage. This earns us the credibility and respect in the communities we serve, and serves as a foundation of our success in addressing the needs of the communities and increasing membership.
Externally, our outreach strategy focuses on working with TV, Radio and Published Media to proactively and consistently inform the local, national and international communities of our club's numerous valuable contributions and ways to get involved in our activities.
We are also dedicated to establishing and sustaining open, collaborative relationships with the Rotary District 5450 and its clubs.
Internally. we encourage partnering with Programs, Centennial, Membership and other Club Committees in developing and implementing an integrated club-wide approach to who we are, what we do and where we are going as an organization.
We are working together on a long-term strategy to communicate the impact our club had made on the communities it serves, and deeply appreciate the help of all Club Committee Chairs and Members at Large with developing a series of stories about the Club's most prominent projects of the last century.
We intend to broaden the use of the Keyway newsletter as an external and internal outreach medium and continuously seek volunteers to write reviews of the weekly programs and to contribute to regular columns in the Keyway, such as "Meet Your Fellow Rotarians".
We are also diligent about facilitating updates and corrections of all member information in the Club Roster to ensure flawless communication.
The club's new website is a powerful tool for external and internal communications, and a vital part of our outreach efforts.
This year's commitment is to create plentiful content for the site, with the goal to attract new and better serve existing audiences.
Externally, we are working to ensure that the site and its content are easily found by search engines and networks, as well as individuals.
Internally, we work on making the site an integral part of every member's Rotary life. We greatly appreciate the help of the Committee Chairs and Members at Large in helping us tell the powerful story of this club through the eyes of those who made the project happen, as well as those who benefited from them. One by one, these stories create a message to the world and increase interest among those who consider joining Rotary International, as well as those who are already members.
